This week saw the first meeting of the new District 9350 Diversity Committee. The Committee was formed at the conference in Luderitz and they have started discussions on strategies to promote ethnic, religious and vocational diversity in Rotary. An exciting new initiative and we look forward to lending the team our support!

The Newlands Public Image Committee is looking for a member to assist with the writing of short articles for the website and the media. Shelley manages the posting and distribution of content, but would appreciate some assistance with the actual writing of short articles (100 - 300 words) on a weekly basis.

An 83 year-old South African has completed the world’s biggest mountain bike stage race covering over 260km in just 3 days.

On Friday 11 May, Arthur Duncan, aged 83, from Howick, completed the 260 km Adventure in the three day KAP sani2c mountain bike stage race.

The KAP sani2c is the world’s biggest mountain bike stage race, and while it continues to attract thousands every year, the event is as just as focussed on supporting the communities that it passes through. Arthur took up cycling seriously at the age of 65, and has completed KAP sani2c race five times previously, but not since 2010.

If you cannot do your job on the day, please find someone who can do it instead of you, then contact the Sergeant on the day to update the roster. Please don't leave this until the Monday afternoon – let the Sergeant know in advance if you have not been able to arrange a swap. If you are going to be away for particular future meetings let Shelley Finch know.
